Bid Day 2012
Survey
I conducted a survey through www.surveymonkey.com and emailed the survey through the house email of Kappa Alpha Theta, here at Purdue. I received 26 responses. The link to my survey is below.
Results
1. On a scale of 1-5, 1 being poor and 5 being excellent, how would you describe communication within Theta?
I chose this question because I was curious to know how other members felt about the communication within Theta. Additionally, communication within a community must be conducted well in order for a community to function. The end result was an average score of 3.88. These results signified that communication is a little above average and can still be improved. Due to this information, members of Theta are working to meet the demands of creating better communication.
2) On a scale of 1-5, 1 being poor and 5 being excellent, Thetas history is important to you and is reflected through the Alpha Chi Chapter?
The history of Theta is unique and influential to the ideals of the fraternity. I chose to ask this question in order to view the opinions on how members of the house felt. The end result was an average score of 4.23. With these results, the house felt as though Thetas history is important to the chapter.
3) On a scale of 1-5, 1 being poor and 5 being excellent, how important are Theta families, Big Sis's, and Twin Stars?
Theta families are also a unique aspect of being apart of Theta. Having families allows new members to gain stronger relationships with other members of the community. I chose this question in order to obtain the views of other members of the house. The end result was an average score of 4.46. These results signified that families and different relationships throughout the house serve an importance to Thetas.
4) On a scale of 1-5, 1 being poor and 5 being excellent, how professional is Theta structured?
Based off the interview I had with Alison Olsen, she expressed that one unique aspect of Theta was that it has a professional structure due to their unique way at addressing the positions of the Chapter. I asked this question because I wanted to get an overall view of how the house felt about the structure. The end result was an average score of 4.27. Therefore, more people agreed that professionalism was an aspect of Thetas structure.
5) What is the first word to come to mind when you think of Kappa Alpha Theta?
I chose to ask the house this question because it narrowed down what Theta meant to the girls within Kappa Alpha Theta into one word. Some responses were as followed:
- Sisters
- Home
- Loyal
- Diverse
6) What do you believe to set Kappa Alpha Theta apart from other Greeks?
I found this question necessary in order to narrow down what was unique about Kappa Alpha Theta since my thesis revolved around the differences that Theta has among other Greeks. Some responses were as followed:
- We continually strive and maintain academic excellence, commitment to our community, and leadership on campus. We do this in a way that reflects our values as a chapter and we uphold each other no matter the situation.
- How close we are between all pledge classes
- I would say compared to what I hear about other house, Thetas really try and respect each other. We love each other and we are all such amazing women who do great things on campus and in school. I am so proud to be a Theta and I feel like others don't have that love.
