Methodology
This page further explains my research process over the course of February 11, 2013 to March 8, 2013. During this time period I conducted observations, interviews, and surveys throughout the community of Kappa Alpha Theta at Purdue University. I observed a typical house meeting that are held on Monday evenings at 6:15 to collect data about the professional part of Theta. Throughout the process of my data collection, I gathered information through a manual I obtained when I got my bid from Kappa Alpha Theta. I conducted my survey through the website www.surveymonkey.com where I sent it through the Purdue Theta house email. My interviews were conducted on two separate occasions. One was conducted on February 10 in the conversation room of Theta. The conversation room is used for meetings and important conversations. The second interview was conducted on March 1 in the lobby of Owen.
Kappa Alpha Theta manual
Collection
I have been an active member of the Alpha Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta since October 20, 2012. I was able to obtain new knowledge of this community through personal experiences as well as through learning from the older girls in the house. Additionally, from the manual I obtained after getting my bid, I was able to use that information to implement into my research. The manual included information pertaining to Thetas history, leadership, and several other aspects.
Analysis
My research focuses on the uniqueness of Kappa Alpha Theta through their history, professionalism, as well as their values towards creating a family atmosphere among their members.
