Kappa Alpha Theta is not your typical sorority, strictly because it is not a sorority at all. It was the first Greek letter fraternity known among women and was founded by four women; Bettie Locke, Alice Allen, Bettie Tipton, and Hannah Fitch. Their fraternity was established in Indiana Asbury (now DePauw University) in 1870. At Purdue University, the Kappa Alpha Theta Chapter is the Alpha Chi Chapter.
Thesis
Kappa Alpha Theta was the first official women's fraternity that aimed for social, intellectual, and moral growth. Their history, professionalism, and family oriented values sets them apart from other Greek communities at Purdue.
